On the morning of April 11, 2024, Academician Constance J. Chang Hasmain visited the School of Integrated Circuits and gave a lecture on the important value and application of VCSEL optical chips in the digital and intelligent era. In this speech, Academician Chang introduced the relevant knowledge of VCSEL and the problems existing in traditional VCSEL, proposed relevant improvement methods, and discussed the design inspiration and structural characteristics of high refractive index contrast gratings/high contrast metastructures, as well as the transmission characteristics of single channel 106Gbps PAM4 rate HCG-VCSEL optical chips. He also looked forward to the future prospects of HCG-VCSEL in cloud data centers. After the meeting, the students actively communicated and discussed with Academician Chang. Through this exchange, all students have benefited greatly.
