课程简介Course introduction 

计算社会科学是新兴的研究领域,包含来自不同社会学科的理论、方法和实证经验。本课程面向硕士与博士生讲授计算社会科学的基本话题、方法、实证研究。课程讲授将结合计算社会科学的方法和实践。选课同学无需具备编程能力或计算社会研究经验,但需要对应用计算社会科学具有强烈兴趣。本课程的教学语言为英文。

Computational social science is a growing field of research and consists of theories, methods and empirical explorations from multiple social science disciplines. This course is designed for graduate students from social science backgrounds and aims to introduce students to the fundamental topics, approaches, and practices in computational social sciences. The course will combine the teaching of computational social science methods with examples from some of the best practices. Students do not need to have coding skills or experiences in computational social sciences but need to have a strong interest in applying computational techniques in their future research. The course will be taught in English.

伴随着移动互联网、社交媒体、人工智能技术等信息通讯技术的发展,网络正在深刻影响着个人日常生活、社会发展与流动、政府政务管理、经济组织与发展、文化创意与产业。社会科学不同专业逐渐广泛地应用大数据与计算研究方法记录、分析和理解网络对社会的深远影响。本课程面向硕士与博士阶段学生,介绍传播学、情报学、社会学、政治学等多学科关于互联网与社会的研究前沿,课程将同时关注网络社会前沿研究中运用的计算社会学研究方法,通过研究领域与研究方法结合的讲授方式,帮助学生把握国内外互联网与社会研究重点研究课题与主要研究方法。

With the rapid development of mobile internet, social media, and artificial intelligence technologies, the internet has a profound influence on individuals' everyday lives, social development and mobility, e-governance, economic development, cultural production and cultural industry. Various disciplines in social sciences have applied big data and computational methods in documenting, analysing, and understanding the impact of the internet on our society. This course is available for graduate students and aims to introduce research frontiers in communication, information, sociology, and political science. The course will also focus on computational social science methods used in internet research by combining the introduction of different research fields with research methods. Students will learn important issues and the main methods of internet research.
