A 2-D lateral heterogeneous model was constructed to simulate basin-edge effects using PSM/FDM method. Effects of basin-edge geometry and source depth were simulated. PGV of different models are given to illustrate the effects, and it suggests that the basin geometry and the depth of soft sediment play crucial roles in seismic ground motion study for sedimentary basin.

Developing highly scalable algorithms for global atmospheric modeling is becoming increasingly important as scientists inquire to understand behaviors of the global atmosphere at extreme scales. Nowadays, heterogeneous architecture based on both processors and accelerators is becoming an important solution for large-scale computing. However, large-scale simulation of the global atmosphere brings a severe challenge to the development of highly scalable algorithms that fit well into state-of-the-art heterogeneous systems. Although successes have been made on GPU-accelerated computing in some top-level applications, studies on fully exploiting heterogeneous architectures in global atmospheric modeling are still very less to be seen, due in large part to both the computational difficulties of the mathematical models and the requirement of high accuracy for long term simulations. In this paper, we propose a peta-scalable hybrid algorithm that is successfully applied in a cubed-sphere shallow-water model in global atmospheric simulations. We employ an adjustable partition between CPUs and GPUs to achieve a balanced utilization of the entire hybrid system, and present a pipe-flow scheme to conduct conflict-free inter-node communication on the cubed-sphere geometry and to maximize communication-computation overlap. Systematic optimizations for multithreading on both GPU and CPU sides are performed to enhance computing throughput and improve memory efficiency. Our experiments demonstrate nearly ideal strong and weak scalabilities on up to 3,750 nodes of the Tianhe-1A. The largest run sustains a performance of 0.8 Pflops in double precision (32% of the peak performance), using 45,000 CPU cores and 3,750 GPUs.

Zhao HC, Xie S. Application of the VSD Model to Determine Regional Control Targets of Acid Deposition, in Advanced Materials Research.Vol 356. Trans Tech Publ; 2012:2647–2657. 访问链接Abstract
In order to control regional acid deposition pollution, it is necessary to determine scientific regional control targets for atmospheric acid deposition. This study proposed a method to conduct multi-site simulation using the VSD model and the simulation results were plotted by cumulative frequency distribution curves. Then the regional acid deposition control targets were determined based on the analysis of the restoration of the soil in the region under different deposition scenarios in the target years. The method was applied in the Guangzhou-Dongguan-Huizhou region. To analyze the control targets for acid deposition in this region, 25 sites were simulated by VSD model based on onsite soil sampling and investigation, and the results were plotted by cumulative frequency distribution curves. The results indicated that when S deposition was controlled alone and if the protection rate was 80%, the S control targets should be 7.68-12g.m-2.yr-1 in the short-term and 10.24-16g.m-2.yr-1 in the long-term; the short-term and long-term S deposition control targets should be 5.12-8g.m-2 .yr-1 和7.68-12g.m-2 .yr-1 if the protection rate was 95%. When the S and BC depositions were controlled simultaneously and if the protection rate was 80%, the S control targets should be 2.56-4 g.m-2 .yr-1 in the short-term and 5.12-8 g.m-2 .yr-1 in the long-term when BC deposition was 6.4-12.8 g.m-2 .yr -1 ; and the S control targets should be 2.56-4 g.m-2.yr-1 when BC deposition was 4.8-9.6 g.m-2.yr-1. If the protection rate was 95%, the S control targets should be 0.64-1 g.m-2.yr-1 in the short-term and 5.12-8 g.m-2.yr-1 in the long-term when BC deposition was 6.4-12.8 g.m-2.yr-1; and the S control targets should be 0.64-1g.m-2.yr-1 in the short-term and 2.56-4g.m-2.yr-1 in the long-term. When BC deposition was 2-4 g.m-2.yr-1, S deposition should be controlled to 0.64-1g.m-2.yr-1 for the protection rate of 80% and 95%, and some manual restoration measures are required at the same time

We investigate the control of electron injection in the cascaded laser wakefield accelerators, optimization of seeding phase and the self-guided propagation of laser pulses between the two accelerators. The maximum acceleration gradient with energy spread narrowing was obtained when the seeding phase and the laser pulse propagation were optimized.
