Overall goal: The course is designed to teach graduate students technical writing that scientists do to communicate their research to others, including paper writing and conference presentations.
Paper writing: The course will help students understand better the structures and contents of scientific papers, and learn how to write the abstract, introduction, methodology, results and discussion, and conclusion/implication sections and how to develop and use figures and tables to communicate facts. Students will also learn the process of paper submission, review, and revision based on reviewers’comments.
Conference presentations: Students will learn how to prepare for oral and poster presentations.
