Rui Zhu is an engineer in Electron Microscopy Laboratory of Peking University. He got the Bachelor of Science degree from School of physics of Shandong University in 2008 and Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from Peking University (Advisor: Prof. Dapeng Yu) in 2013. Since 2013, Dr. Zhu joined Electron Microscopy Laboratory of Peking University, and was responsible for the application and management of helium ion microscope and scanning electron microscope.

Dr. Zhu is currently focused on the research and development of novel photocathodes, cathodoluminescence(CL) system, ultrafast CL and scanning ultrafast electron microscope, and also engages in basic researches on electron emission mechanism, plasmonic excitations in electron-matter interaction and focused helium ion beam induced processes. He has 3 authorized Chinese invention patents and has published 33 journal papers, including 4 first-author publications.
